AwardOwl

How it works

Three steps, and the third one is the only one that matters.

1. Add the people

Paste a list of names and email addresses, or connect a Google Workspace account and pick who is in. There is no org chart to build and no manager hierarchy to maintain, because AwardOwl does not care who reports to whom. Anyone can thank anyone.

2. Write the note

A box, a person's name, and a limit of about a hundred and twenty words. The limit is on purpose. Long ones drift into review language.

We ask for one specific thing. "Thanks for everything" gets a gentle nudge to say what the everything was.

3. It lands, and it stays

The note arrives by email or Slack within a minute. It also appears on that person's own page. Nobody else's notes appear there - there is no feed to scroll and no comparison to make.

What we deliberately left out

Points and rewards
The moment thanks has a cash value, people optimise for the cash.
Public leaderboards
A ranking of who was thanked most is a ranking of who is most visible, which is rarely the same as who did the most.
Manager approval
If a thank-you needs a sign-off it is not a thank-you, it is a process.
Analytics dashboards
We show you how many notes went out last month. That is the whole report.
